Network Infrastructure

  • Bottle POS requires a network with throughput speed of at least 100Mbps, but 1Gbps is recommended for best results. Bottle POS does NOT install, maintain, or configure networks or user permissions. Your IT staff or contractor should do this.
  • Bottle POS Tech Support recommends using a workgroup for your network setup.
  • Custom domain URLs are not supported by Bottle POS Tech Support for your network setup. If using a unique domain, your IT department or network administrator will need to be present for support calls or installations.

 

Anti-Virus & Security

Bottle POS does not recommend specific security software vendors or products. Bottle POS recommends that all users—regardless of PCI status—acquire, install, and maintain a security suite that includes the following features:

  • Anti-Virus Capability
  • Anti-Spyware Monitoring
  • Anti-Malware Detection

Each of the above should be automatically updated. Additionally, the suite MUST be able to be configured to NOT filter or firewall Bottle POS or the database. Products that cannot be configured in this manner will prevent the software from functioning properly.

 

Computers & Monitors

PC Systems:

  • At minimum, an Intel i3 or AMD Ryzen 3 or better CPU will work. An i5 or Ryzen 5 or better are recommended.
  • A minimum of 8GB of RAM is needed, 16GB recommended.
  • A minimum of 128GB of storage is needed, 256GB or more is recommended. An SSD will offer faster performance, especially with larger inventory databases, than a standard hard disk.
  • Windows 11 Home 32-bit or 64-bit is sufficient, but Windows 11 Pro 64-bit is recommended. Windows 10 will no longer be supported by Microsoft starting late 2025.
  • The Bottle POS can work with PC systems that are desktop, laptop, or tablet, as long as they have USB and Network connections.

Please Note: Apple hardware is not usable for the Bottle POS system.

For your main monitor display, Bottle POS recommends a touch-screen interface for best user experience.

For customer-facing displays, Bottle POS recommends a touch-screen that is 10-inches or more and has a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels.

 

Peripherals

Receipt Printers

Epson and Star receipt printers use the ESC/POS (Epson Standard Code for Point of Sale) command set in their drivers natively and will work with the Bottle POS. Other receipt printers that can use ESC/POS drivers will work as well. Other receipt printers can also be made to work using the Windows driver, but this is not recommended.

 

Barcode Label Printers

Dymo 450 and 550 printers and Zebra LP2824 Plus, ZD 410, and ZD411 printers are supported by the Bottle POS.

 

Barcode Scanners

Bottle POS supports most USB scanners that are plug-and-play in Windows. A scanner should scan into an input field like Windows Notepad without special drivers.

Bottle POS does not support older scanners that use the Serial Port (RS-232).

 

Cash Drawers

Bottle POS supports printer-connected cash drawers that plug into the receipt printer via cable with plugs similar to those on a phone line.

 

Report Printers (Letter Size)

The Bottle POS supports Windows-compatible printers. If your printer can print to Letter size (8.5-inches x 11-inches) from Windows it will work with our system.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I use an older PC with the Bottle POS?

A: The system will run on older machines and Windows versions, but may be slow. In the case of Windows 10, Microsoft will no longer be supporting them in late 2025. It is recommended that you use a PC with at least the minimum specs described in this article.
